Call for Sessions XP Days Benelux 2010
XP Day Benelux (25-26 November, in Heeze, NL) is an international conference about Agile development, intended for people from all walks of life who want to uncover better ways of developing software by doing it and helping others do it. XP Days Benelux is made for, and made by, the Agile Community. Now you can be a contributor too.
XP Day Benelux will have something for everyone. Sessions for people who are new to Agile, sessions for experienced people, a good mix of technical, experience, management and process sessions. We’ll have sessions on Agile in real life, stories of success and horror, hands on workshops, and sessions that will completely surprise you!
We are looking for enthusiastic people who want to lead these sessions. People who work with Agile in any role, business or form. People who are willing to share, and are prepared to learn. Reflective practitioners who are not only interested in quality work but also want to know why things work as they do.
We are in particular looking for new, even crazy, topics and ideas!

QWAN supports Alpe d’HuZes again in 2010
Alpe d’HuZes is an event where cyclists cycle to collect money for the fight against cancer, by climbing the legendary Alpe d’Huez at least six times in one day. An almost impossible challenge. Nonetheless quite a few participants managed to achieve this in 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009, even a number of (former) cancer patients. In 2009, 6 million euros were collected. This year, the goal is to reach 10 million!
This year, we are sponsoring Pim van den Heuvel and his team Logica & Friends.
Mastering Unit Testing, 9-10 February in Brussels (Belgium)
On 9 & 10 February, QWAN will organize a Mastering Unit Testing course, together with iLean. Mastering Unit Testing is a practical, hands-on course to take your programming skills to the next level. Two days of fun and in-depth learning on unit testing and various forms of test driven development.
This course is intended for those who have some experience with unit testing and want to increase their skills.
Devnology Community Day
QWAN will run two workshops at the Devnology Community Day on 7 November:
- Give your code some love – we will lead participants through a number of code fragments that seem alright at
first sight, but that can still be improved in our opinion – they just need a little love. - Flying horses – cleaner code in other languages – where we explore how you typically solve problems in different languages and how it can inspire your to do things differently in your current working environment.
XP Days Benelux 2009

Story Testing at the Scandinavian Agile conference
We will run a workshop on story testing and working in a behaviour driven way at the Scandinavian Agile Conference, which will take place on 15 and 16 October, in Helsinki (Finland).
This workshop is meant for both developers and product owners:
- As a developer, I want to know story testing frameworks and practice one of them, so that I can test stories using the examples the product owner writes together with me.
- As a product owner, I want understand the process of testing stories and practice specifying acceptance criteria using example scenarios, so that I can help developers develop what I want.
Training courses in Belgium
We are happy to announce that we will be delivering two open enrollment courses in Belgium this autumn. Together with iLean, we will organize a Mastering Unit Testing course on 24 and 25 September in Antwerp, and a Mastering Legacy Code course on 5 and 6 November, also in Antwerp.
New website
We are rebuilding the QWAN website, migrating from Drupal to Wordpress.
QWAN supports Alpe d’HuZes
Alpe d’HuZes is an event where cyclists cycle to collect money for the fight against cancer. Rob participates, sponsored by QWAN. He will climb the legendary Alpe d’Huez at least six times in one day. An almost impossible challenge. Nonetheless quite a few participants managed to achieve this in 2006, 2007, and 2008, even a number of (former) cancer patients. In 2008, a record amount of 3 million Euro was collected! The goal for 2009 is to surpass this record amount.
At the moment, Rob is training hard to make the six times…interested in sponsoring Rob? Let us know.
