2. Invitation to Agile Open Holland
==================================================================

QWAN is sponsoring the next Agile Open conference in The Netherlands,
which will take place on 10 and 11 September 2009, in Baarn (NL). The
conference is organized by Agile Holland.

Agile Open is a two day Open Space conference, meant for anyone with
some degree of experience with an agile way of working. It is designed
to allow agile practitioners to meet in self-organizing groups where
they can share their latest ideas and challenges, hopes and wishes,
experiences and experiments. We follow an Open Space format to foster
collaboration and allow the conference to take its direction from the
participants themselves – it’s a peer to peer conference where you co-
create the conference while it happens.

The conference theme is:
My method is bigger than yours… or is it?

Previous Agile Opens have taken place all around the world, in
Holland, Belgium, France, USA, and Argentina. Some topics covered at
previous conferences: Transitioning Organizations To Agile, Community
of Trust, Presentation Zen, Agile Tooling, Future of Unit Testing,
Helping The Product Owner, Co-learning spaces, Political Games,
Kanban, Exploring Contract Models, and Scrum without a product
backlog.

The topics for this conference are again up to you!

The conference fee is EUR 80, for two days of conference, including
lunches, coffee, drinks, dinner, and of course lots of fun & learning.

3. Responsibility Driven Design article in Methods and Tools
======================================================================

Rob and Marc have written an English version of their paper on
Responsibility Driven Design with Mock objects. This paper has been
published in the summer edition of the online journal Methods and
Tools:

Object oriented design is the art of assigning the right
responsibilities to the right objects and creating a clear structure
with loose coupling and high cohesion. Test driven development (TDD)
is a design practice that helps you achieving this to some extent. TDD
drives you towards loosely coupled objects, because too many
dependencies will hinder the short test-code-refactor cycles typical
for TDD.

Responsibility driven design is an approach that helps you shift focus
from object state to interactions and responsibilities. In this
article, we show how test driven development with mock objects
facilitates responsibility driven design and drives you towards a more
cohesive, loosely coupled design.
