2. eXperience Agile becomes QWAN
======================================================================
We have decided to work more closely together and jointly offer
project coaching and software development in addition to training.
The name ‘eXperience Agile’ no longer adequately covers what we offer:
it is only the name of our first course (which we still deliver).
We now offer a broad range of pragmatic, hands on courses.
Furthermore, we offer more than just courses – we develop software
at client sites or from our office, and we mentor and manage projects.
We have been looking for a new name that is meaningful for all three
of us and that fits our activities. The new name is:
QWAN – Quality Without A Name
If you’d like to know more about the origins of the name, please read:
www.qwan.it/about

3. New course: Unit Testing Masterclass
======================================================================
This two day, hands on course focuses on unit testing techniques.
Using lectures, demonstrations, and lots of practical exercises, we
will cover diverse subjects like test driven development, mocking
techniques, unit test quality, and introducing unit tests in existing
code.
This course is meant for developers, architects, (technical) project
leaders, who want to develop software that is easier to adapt to
changing customer requirements and do so better, more cost effective
and faster.

4. New course: Practical Scrum for New Masters
======================================================================
A Japanese proverb says: “Better than a thousand days of diligent
study is one day with a great teacher.”
This course is designed for recent graduates of Certified Scrum
Master courses, containing practical advise to make the first few
months of being a Scrum Master easier. Patterns, best practices and
more to improve being a Scrum Master, extracted from personal
experience, thousands of posts to popular mailing lists and hundreds
of conference presentations.
This training is designed to supplement the theoretical knowledge
provided by a Certified Scrum Training with hands-on experience
reports and useful situational leadership. Giving a Scrum Master
confidence and the necessary tools to be more effective immediately.
QWAN organizes this one day workshop together with David Höhn,
experienced Scrum Practitioner and trainer from Londen, on 27 October
in Amsterdam.

5. Opening drinks at Westgeest Consultancy
======================================================================
Westgeest Consultancy and Mediation has a new office: Gondelstraat 2
in Tilburg. To celebrate this, there will be drinks on Friday
afternoon, 26 September starting at 16:00.

6. QWAN sponsors CITCON Europe 2008
======================================================================
QWAN sponsors the CITCON conference, which will take place on 3 and 4
October in Amsterdam.
CITCON (Continuous Integration and Testing Conference) brings together
people from every corner of the software development industry to
discuss Continuous Integration and the type of Testing that goes along
with it. The conference is organized using Open Space principles,
which means that the participants will co-create the contents and
everyone will be actively involved.
The conference is free. There are still a few places available, see:
www.citconf.com/amsterdam2008/
======================================================================
7. XP Days Benelux
======================================================================
The XP Days Benelux conference will take place on 20 and 21 November.
XP Days Benelux is the annual Dutch-Belgian conference on agile
software development. It is the place to hear about the latest
developments in the field and to share experiences with other
professionals.
This year, the conference has 5 parallel tracks with a broad range of
interactive sessions: experience reports, workshops, simulations,
sessions about Scrum, story testing, coaching teams, metrics, working
with legacy software, and much more…
QWAN is co-organizer of XP Days Benelux. We will facilitate sessions
on Responsibility-driven Design with Mocking, Dirty Jobs, and
Specification by Example.
======================================================================
8. Quality Without Borders
======================================================================
On 29 October, Marc and Willem will deliver a workshop on “Rightsizing
Your Unit Tests” at the Scandinavian Agile Conference in Helsinki,
Finland.
QWAN is also active in France. In September, we will organize an
eXperience Refactoring course, together with OCTO Technologies. Based
on the feedback we have received, Willem has further developed this
course together with Emmanuel Gaillot. The course will be delivered in
French: “Excursions dans le Remaniement Continu”.
